Unpainted, clean brick wall
If the wall is clean, stable and not painted, the surface is primed first. This helps prepare the brickwork before the EPS insulation boards are bonded to the wall.
What We Do
We currently focus on one main type of exterior work: insulating houses with Ceresit CT 315 graphite EPS boards and finishing the facade with a silicone render system. The aim is a clean, durable and weather-resistant finish, built from proper preparation rather than shortcuts.
Substrate Preparation
The quality of the finished render depends on what happens before the insulation boards go on. We check the existing wall and prepare it according to the condition of the surface.
If the wall is clean, stable and not painted, the surface is primed first. This helps prepare the brickwork before the EPS insulation boards are bonded to the wall.
If the wall has pebbledash or another render finish, it is removed back to a suitable base. The wall is then cleaned, repaired where needed and prepared for the insulation adhesive.
Work Sequence
The process below shows the typical order of work for EPS external wall insulation finished with silicone render. The exact specification can depend on the property, access, substrate condition and material requirements.
Starter tracks are fixed level around the building to set the base line for the insulation boards.
EPS boards are bonded to the prepared wall with suitable adhesive, keeping lines tight and the surface controlled.
The insulation is fixed with approved insulation anchors after bonding, adding mechanical support to the system.
Corner beads, stop beads and drip beads are installed to protect edges, form clean lines and manage water run-off.
A basecoat adhesive is applied, reinforcement mesh is embedded, then another coat is applied to create the reinforced layer.
Once the reinforced layer is ready, the facade is coated with primer before the final render is applied.
The final silicone render is applied evenly and textured to create the finished facade surface.
System Materials
The graphite EPS board improves the thermal performance of the wall, while the silicone render creates the finished external surface. Presenting both products together helps clients understand what is inside the system and what they see on the outside.
Insulation Material
The insulation board is the thermal layer of the system. It is fixed to the outside of the house before the reinforced basecoat, mesh, primer and final silicone render are applied.
Final Render Product
Ceresit CT74 is a decorative thin-layer silicone render used for exterior facade finishes, including Ceresit ETICS systems with EPS insulation boards. It is designed for a stone-like textured finish and is available in different grain sizes.
Available CT74 Colours
Clients can choose from the Ceresit CT74 colour range shown below. The images on this website are for guidance only and cannot represent the finished render colour with 100% accuracy. Before the final choice is made, the client will be shown a physical colour book so the selected shade can be confirmed properly.
